A week ago we had our first yoga session with the brilliant Avni Talsania. During this session we learned how to use yoga to relieve our back pain and spondylitis, and how to do a spine warm up for being able to perform a Suryanamaskar. This week, we are moving on to the next set of tutorials to help us keep fit and stay in peace during this lockdown. Are you ready with your yoga mats? Let’s begin!
Grounding Yoga Sequence for Beginners
When we feel shaken apart, that is the time to root ourselves in who we are and what we stand for. These grounding poses will re-connect you with yourself, making you stand tall and providing you with a firm foundation to lean on. This grounding yoga sequence is for activating our earth element and includes the: mountain pose, tree pose wide, legged standing forward, bend low lunge, eagle pose garland pose and more!
We practice grounding poses to balance kapha dosha (related to stability) and activate the earth element, which is a vital component of bones, cartilage, skin, hair, nails, muscles, tendons, internal organs, etc. It builds and invigorates these tissues. It also reduces fire and disorders of agni-excess like acidity, fever and inflammation. Follow this video to stay grounded.
Beginner Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa is a style of yoga that strings postures together so that you flow from one to another, seamlessly, using smooth transitions and ujjayi breathing. As a philosophy, Vinyasa recognises the temporary nature of things. We enter into a posture, stay there for a while and then leave. The ‘sequence of consciousness,’ or how life unfolds from… enjoy this creative pulse of life!
